Last year, we traveled across America in our handmade Morgan roadster in search of craftspeople keeping handcrafted traditions alive. The 52 amazing artisans we visited made it a tremendously enlightening journey. We couldn't have done it without your help. Your recommendations helped shape our trip, allowing us to discover incredible crafts away from the beaten path. We'll need your assistance again on our 2nd year on the road. Go ahead! Nominate yourself or someone you know who fits the bill.

What We’re Offering

As part of our mission to honor and celebrate craftsmanship across America, we are proud to announce the launch of the inaugural Balvenie Rare Craft Fellowship — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an American craftsperson to receive a money-can’t-buy trip to Scotland to spend time at our legendary distillery and apprentice under another local craftsperson of their choosing. In addition, they will receive $5,000 towards materials. This artisan will be chosen from five nominated craftspeople selected for this Fellowship program. The remaining four craftspeople will receive a trip to New York to showcase their work and $2,000 to put towards their business.

What Makes a Craftsperson?

We're looking for that rare individual who perpetuates time-honored traditions through their handiwork and desire to pass down their knowledge to others. We prefer to visit people who build things by hand, practice arts that have been passed down through generations and shun the idea of automation. If it keeps the spirit alive, we'd love to meet them!

Back in 2011, we visited incredibly talented glassblowers at New Orleans Glassworks. They are fine examples of the type of craftspeople we're hoping to celebrate during the 2012 Rare Craft Roadshow.

Tell us about the Craftsperson

We're relying on those who share our passion for all things handcrafted to point us toward the craftspeople of America. Put your mind to it and help us on our quest.
Fellowship opportunity is void in California and where prohibited by law. Craftsmen must be 25 years of age or older to participate.
