Notes from the Road | Handcrafted-on-Hudson

Over the course of the roadshow, Nicholas and I have been lucky enough to take the Morgan on some of the most beautiful drives the country has to offer, but the drive through the Hudson Valley to visit the famous Tuthilltown distillery in Gardiner, New York rates among the best we have done so far.  Maybe it was because I was close to my home base of NYC, maybe it was because of the glorious early fall weather, or maybe it was because I was on my way to meet kindred spirits, in particular the great visionary Ralph Erenzo, that this drive will stick with me in particular.

Having not seen Ralph since his car accident late last year, it was absolutely great to see him back at work, with as much relish as ever.  At my request, we gathered at a serene corner of the distillery grounds to talk about running Tuthilltown and making the incomparable Hudson Whiskey, and I was lucky enough to record some of the talk:

As the first whiskey produced in New York since Prohibition, Hudson Whiskey energized the world of spirits when it was introduced a few years back, and, since then, it has grown from strength to strength, earning praise and plaudits thanks to its fine range of American whiskeys. It is surely a product of rare craftsmanship and a beloved member of our William Grant and Sons family.
